Raised in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, Jason Gentrup’s journey has taken him far beyond the geographic center of the United States. After serving in the United States Marine Corps and completing deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, he faced the challenges of loss, PTSD, single parenthood, and personal transformation.
His path led him through nursing studies, massage therapy, world travel across six continents and more than 30 countries, and academic pursuits in Political Science, Sociology, and Urban & Regional Planning. Along the way, he developed a deep understanding of the human condition through years of bodywork, conversations with people from all walks of life, and firsthand experiences across cultures and communities.
Today, Jason combines his experiences as a veteran, father, traveler, healer, and lifelong student to explore how individuals can better understand themselves, their place in the world, and the realities that shape human life. The Human Compass is the culmination of that journey and the beginning of a new one.
